Setting the Enterprise Default Single Currency

FlexNet Manager Suite 2019 R2 (On-Premises Edition)
When you first connect to FlexNet Manager Suite, the default currency for your enterprise has been set by the person who installed the system for you. Use this process to set your enterprise default to a different currency of your choice.
Note: The default currency for your enterprise also becomes the default for each new operator (after which the individual preference can be customized).
Tip: Already have monetary values entered in your current currency? Instead of switching the currency, you may prefer enabling multiple currencies for automated conversion at your declared exchange rates. See discussion at the bottom of this page.
Note: This procedure applies only to enterprises using a single currency (the default when you first start using the system). If you are already using multiple currencies, you may still change the default currency, but the procedure is different, and the outcome also slightly different. For multi-currency information, see Choosing the Enterprise Default Currency (One of Many).

To set the enterprise default single currency:

  1. Navigate to the system menu ( in the top right corner) > System Defaults, and select the Currency Settings tab.
  2. On the right end of the currency card, click the pencil icon to edit the default currency.
The tab updates to show the Edit default_currency_name properties.
  3. From the Currency pull-down, select the new currency to use as the default for your enterprise.
Tip: if your desired currency is not available in the pull-down list, please activate the currency (see Activating Currencies).
  4. Optionally edit the additional information for this currency, so that you update the display of your default.
    Field Notes
Property format Specify a prefix and suffix to be shown in editable fields within property sheets and similar places. The system defaults for this currency are displayed, but you may edit them to your preference. To the right of the prefix and suffix fields, a sample value is displayed using the values you edit.
List format Similarly specify a (possibly different) prefix and suffix for use when the monetary value appears in reports, lists, and other non-editable locations where space may be limited.
For example, you can make the currency appear as $1,234.56 AUD in editable fields (the prefix and suffix disappear during editing in those fields), and use a shorter form of A$1,234.56 in lists and reports.
Tip: You cannot retire the single default currency.
  5. Click Save.
    A confirmation alert appears.
  6. Click OK to proceed with the currency change.
The details are updated in the database, and after a moment the Currency Settings tab refreshes with new default currency.
Your chosen currency is recorded as the default currency for your enterprise. This means:
  • When a new operator is recorded, her initial personal default currency display is set to this enterprise default currency. To allow each operator to change the display currency to suit individual taste, you must first change to multi-currency by enabling the other currencies you wish to authorize in your enterprise.
  • Because you made this change while using only a single currency, the system default value is entirely removed for your enterprise. Should you subsequently switch to multi-currency (by adding other currencies to this new enterprise default), the old system default is not automatically included in drop-down lists for operators to select, and must be re-authorized.
  • If you have already entered any financial data into the system, the units for those entries are changed, but the values remain unchanged. For example, if you had entered a unit price for a license as $45.00 USD, and subsequently updated your default currency to Australian dollars, the value is now shown as $45.00 AUD. Given ordinary exchange rates, this is unlikely to be correct; so it is much better to set the default currency before entering any financial data, including enabling other currencies. (If data values have already been entered in one currency, you may prefer to simple authorize the newly preferred alternative, and declare an exchange rate set that allows the system to display each monetary value in an operator's preferred currency. See Creating an Exchange Rate Set for details.)
