Excluding Evidence from Application Recognition

FlexNet Manager Suite 2020 R1 (On-Premises)

You can ignore evidence (whether it is already assigned to an application or not) that is no longer relevant in terms of application recognition, or needs no monitoring.

Important: If you exclude, or ignore, an evidence record, it will not be used when monitoring which applications are installed or accessed from your enterprise's computers. All evidence records with the Ignored status are excluded from application recognition. Ignored evidence is still listed in the Evidence tab of the application properties. Evidence which is unassigned has not been linked to any application, and so cannot participate in license consumption calculations, even when it is identified in incoming inventory. However, evidence can be assigned to an application (so that it is not 'lost') and then ignored. This likewise does not participate in license consumption calculations; but it is no longer floating.

To exclude evidence from application recognition:

  1. Open any evidence-related page, for example: License Compliance > Discovered Evidence.
  2. Click the appropriate evidence tab.
  3. Select exactly one evidence record, and click Ignore.
Tip: While ignored evidence can never trigger recognition of a linked application during license calculations, you can later restore it to activity. For details, see Including Ignored Evidence in Application Recognition .
Depending on the type of an evidence record, it is added to either the Installer evidence, File evidence, or Access evidence tab of the Ignored Evidence page (Yes displays in the Ignored column on the All Evidence page).
