Overwriting License-Type Recommendations
FlexNet Manager Suite
2020 R2
(On-Premises)
Instead of accepting or rejecting a recommendation, you can overwrite it and assign a different license type than the one that is recommended.
In addition to changing the license type to one of the "usual" values, you can retire users. When you retire a user, the user's Valid To date is changed so that the user is no longer valid, and does not require a license.
Overwritten recommendations that have not been committed to the database are orange.
To overwrite a license-type recommendation:
- Run a Process License Recommendations report (see Creating a Process License Recommendations Report), and select the user or users whose license type should be changed to a value of your choice.
- Click Overwrite.
-
The Process License Recommendations dialog displays. The
following options are available:
- To assign a new license type:
- In the New License Type field, enter the new license type you want to assign. The description of the new license type displays next to the value.
- In the Reason field, enter a reason why the recommendation is overwritten (optional).
- Select whether future recommendations for this user should be ignored. For more information, see Ignoring License-Type Recommendations.
- If in step 3.a you assign the new license type 04 (Substitute) or 11 (Multi-Client/System) and you click OK, you are prompted to enter additional information. For more information, see step 3 in Accepting License-Type Recommendations.
- To retire the user:
- Select the Retire User check box to retire the user.
- Enter a date in the Valid to field to define when the user should be retired. If the field is blank, the current date is used. When retiring a user, the New License Type field is set to -- in the report. This value only serves as a placeholder in the report; that is, when you commit the change to the user primary data, only the user's Valid To date is modified. If you specify a Valid To date that lies before the last logon date, the Valid To date is automatically set to the last logon date. It is impossible to retire a user who was active after the date that the user was supposed to be retired.
- Select from the following options to specify whether future recommendations for this user should be ignored:
- Click OK to confirm the overwrite action.
