Limiting the report results
The following options (which display from left to right and are located below the report title) allow you to redefine the report content:
- Using the search field titled Publisher, click the search icon and choose a single publisher for this report. This displays a search field titled Application which enables you optionally limit the report to a single application by this publisher by selecting the application from the adjacent drop-down list. This in turn displays a standard filter labeled Version which enables you to optionally limit the report to a single version of the chosen application by selecting the version from the adjacent drop-down list.
- Using the search field titled Enterprise, click the search icon and choose the enterprise(s) to include in this report.
- Using the filter labeled As at, select Custom date from the adjacent drop-down list to set a date range for the report. This displays two date pickers with the current date selected in both. To change the date range, click the calendar icon in the date picker on the left to modify the start date and/or click the calendar icon in the date picker on the right to modify the end date.
For help with the search, see To Use a Fly-Down.
Reading the report
The following columns (listed alphabetically) are available in this list. By default, some are available through the column chooser.
Column name | Description |
---|---|
Benefits | The possible savings you can achieve are calculated using the results shown in other columns of this report. The benefits calculation is the sum of Covered VM installs, Exempt count and Second use, multiplied by the Estimated unit (currency) for the license. |
Compliance status |
Whether or not the current
use of software under this license complies with the
license terms and conditions. Values may be:
|
Consumed |
The number of license entitlements
(or points) consumed across the enterprise.
Tip: Access rights on an operator's role may restrict the
values that the operator is entitled to see. An
unrestricted view provides the total consumption that
should be balanced by purchases.
Note: Special
provisions apply to these license types:
|
Covered VM installs | The number of licenses consumed by instances of this application on virtual machines. |
Downgrade count | The number of installs that were of downgrade editions or versions of the applications covered by this license. |
Edition |
The edition property of the license, which may or may not be the same as the edition of the licensed application. |
Entitlement limits | The entitlements limits rule that controls how the license is flagged if consumption exceeds purchased entitlements. A value of Unlimited or Subject to true-up means this license cannot be displayed as At risk. In addition, for a value of Subject to true-up, at the end of the true-up period, you must make purchases to retrospectively cover any over-consumption. Most licenses display As purchased, where a license is At risk if consumption exceeds purchased entitlements. |
Estimated unit (currency) |
The unit price for a single entitlement under this license. This value has been set to override prices on all related purchase records. This may be set to the current single purchase price. |
Exempt count | The number of installs that were marked as exempt on this license. |
License type |
The kind of license, which determines what properties are available for the license, and how compliance is calculated for the license. |
Product | Displays the application name, including references to versions or
editions and preceded by the publisher name for single results; or displays
Multiple products for multi-product
licenses. Product values are not directly editable in the license properties, but are taken from the latest version of the application linked to the license (visible in the Identification section of the General tab of the application properties). In license properties the product is listed in the Applications tab. For multi-product licenses, linked products are listed in the Use rights & rules tab. |
Publisher |
The name of the publisher of this software, responsible for its development and distribution. |
Purchased |
The total number of license entitlements recorded for this license. This is the sum of the Entitlements from purchases and Extra entitlements values stored in the properties of the license. This is the number of licenses your enterprise is entitled to consume. |
Second use | The number of installs covered by second use rights on this license. |
Shortfall/Availability |
Displays the result of Entitlements from purchases plus Extra entitlements minus Consumed fields shown in license properties. The result is positive when you have surplus entitlements (according to the last license consumption calculation), and negative when you are under-purchased. For points-based licenses (such as Core Points or Processor Points licenses), the value is the number of points, rather than entitlements. |
Total licensed installs | The total count of installs covered by this license. |
Version |
The version assigned to the license. Depending on settings, this may or may not reflect the version of the first-linked application. |
