SAP Package Analysis in the SAP Admin Module

FlexNet Manager Suite 2022 R1 (On-Premises)

You can measure and analyze the consumption of SAP packages across your organization.

An SAP package (also called simply package) is an optional piece of software for which you can purchase a separate license from SAP. The licensed units of the packages are determined in accordance with sizes, such as the number of orders, contracts, and contract accounts. A named user license is required for users who access packages.

If you do not use the Staging Database Monitor to remotely launch the USMM and collect package measurement data, you must use the Package Analysis feature if you want to import and measure package data from dependent SAP systems. As a prerequisite to importing data using the Package Analysis feature, the Satellite transport must be installed on the corresponding SAP systems. The package measurement data that is generated using the Package Analysis feature (by importing source data and measuring it) is automatically added to the staging database on the SAP Admin module. The SAP Inventory Agent can connect to this staging database and load the data into the FlexNet Manager Suite database.

SAP packages were formerly known as SAP Engines. This terminology may be more familiar to long-time SAP users.

The SAP package analysis workflow in the SAP Admin module usually includes the following steps:
