Evidence Tab: WMI Evidence

FlexNet Manager Suite 2022 R1 (On-Premises)
This choice displays details of the imported Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) evidence from Windows-based operating systems. As well, if you have configured FlexNet inventory agent on any inventory devices to collect registry keys/values (and appropriately configured your inventory server to import the resulting inventory), any registry values (name/data pairs) collected for this inventory device are displayed here.
Note: There is no separate properties sheet available for WMI evidence records.

This page displays the following columns (listed alphabetically). Some columns are displayed by default and others can be displayed through the column chooser. To manage columns and other UI options, see the topics under Managing Columns in a Table.

Table 1. WMI evidence tab details
Field Description
Assigned

Displays Yes when the evidence is matched to at least one application, and otherwise displays No. This assignment may have been done automatically through the Application Recognition Library rules, or manually by the operator.

Assigned application
The application to which the evidence is assigned. This value will differ from the Recognized application if any of the following is correct:
  • The evidence is assigned to an application but is set to Ignored and therefore it is not used for recognition
  • The application to which the evidence is assigned is part of a suite and that suite has been recognized instead of the individual application
  • The application to which the evidence is assigned was removed by precedence rules.
Class name The class name of the WMI evidence retrieved from the Application Recognition Library. In the case of values returned from the Windows registry, this column displays Win32_Registry, and this value must be present and must never be changed.
Ignored

Displays Yes when the evidence is not used for application recognition, and No (the default) when the evidence is used to recognize an installation of the assigned application.

Inventory date

The most recent date this evidence was detected on this inventory device.

Inventory source

The display name of the inventory connection where this evidence was found, such as FlexNet Manager Suite.

Property name The WMI evidence property: for example, caption, edition, license count, license mode, name, patch level, product code, version, and so on.
In the case of values returned from the Windows registry, this field concatenates the hive, keys and values. For example:
HKLM32\SOFTWARE\ManageSoft
Corp\ManageSoft\Tracker\CurrentVersion\SaveRegistry
Notice that the paths are returned with pseudo-root values of HKLM32 or HKLM64, to indicate whether the source on the inventory device was the 32-bit or 64-bit registry.
Property value The specific value of the corresponding property: for example, Windows Vista Enterprise or Windows Vista Ultimate. In the case of values (name/data pairs) returned from the Windows registry, this is the data for the value specified in the Property name column – for the example given there, an example data value is True.
Raw class name Class Name of the WMI evidence. This value is an exact match of the raw evidence data retrieved from the inventory source.
Raw property name Property name for the WMI evidence. This value is an exact match of the raw evidence data retrieved from the inventory source.
Raw property value Property value for the WMI evidence. This value is an exact match of the raw evidence data retrieved from the inventory source.
Recognized application

Name of the application that is shown as installed in the Application tab of the inventory device properties (if the evidence was used for recognition). You can click on this link to open the Application Properties of the recognized application.

Source
The origin of the evidence, for example:
  • Flexera — if the evidence is included in Application Recognition Library
  • Flexera (Extended) — if the evidence identified in Application Recognition Library has been modified by an operator, such as being linked to a different application, or having the existence rule changed
  • Local — if the raw evidence did not match an entry in the Application Recognition Library, or an operator in your enterprise created a matching rule.
