Download and Install the Reader Code

FlexNet Manager Suite 2022 R2 (On-Premises)

Importing from the Technopedia connector requires downloading a new reader to import the uploaded data into the compliance database. This is delivered in the Technopedia folder in the Adapter Tools archive for this release.

To download and install the reader:

  1. Download the Adapter Tools for FlexNet Manager Suite 2022 R2.zip archive. One path is through the Flexera Community:
Tip: Your Community credentials are required for login.
    1. Log into community.flexera.com.
    2. In the top right, in the navigation bar, expand More and select Product and License Center.
    3. Under the right-hand list of products that includes FlexNet Manager Suite, click LET'S GO! (and subsequently wait for the redirection to occur).
    4. On the right side, scroll down through the list of Your Downloads and click FlexNet Manager Platform.
The Download Packages page for FlexNet Manager Platform appears.
    5. In the Latest Versions tab, click FlexNet Manager Suite 2022 R2.
A EULA page may appear. If so, click I agree to accept the license, as this grants access to the list of Downloads.
    6. In the list of available Downloads, in the Files tab, in the File Name column, click Adapter Tools for FlexNet Manager Suite 2022 R2.zip.
A new browser tab may appear temporarily, and the download of Adapter Tools for FlexNet Manager Suite 2022 R2.zip commences.
    7. In your browser dialog, choose to save the file, and if the browser allows it, direct the saved file to a convenient working location (such as C:\temp on a central, accessible server).
If your browser saves the file to a default location (such as your Downloads folder), move or copy it to the appropriate working location when the download is finished.
  2. Expand the Adapter Tools for FlexNet Manager Suite 2022 R2.zip.
The Technopedia folder contains a new reader that imports updated data into the compliance database – in a multi-server implementation, copy this folder to your batch server.
  3. Switch to your batch server (or, in smaller implementations, the server hosting this functionality), and copy the Technopedia folder to this location: C:\ProgramData\Flexera Software\Compliance\ImportProcedures\Inventory\Reader.
Tip: This folder also includes a new connection folder for your inventory beacons, which is then distributed automatically to all inventory beacons along with beacon policy (by default, distribution to inventory beacons starts within about 15 minutes of the batch server being updated). Once the folder exists on an inventory beacon, the Technopedia option is automatically available in the Source Type drop-down menu as you create a new SQL database connection.

You can verify overall success after a short wait for the update to be delivered to your chosen inventory beacon, by identifying the entry in the Source Type drop-down menu when you are configuring the connection to Technopedia (see Configure the Technopedia Connector).

When the enabling code is successfully installed on your central batch server (or server hosting that functionality), you can configure the Technopedia connector itself on a suitably-placed inventory beacon that has received the latest policy update. The process is a little simpler if you first have a schedule prepared on which the connector can operate, so start with Schedule Imports from Technopedia.
