Business Importer Tab

FlexNet Manager Suite 2022 R2 (On-Premises)
From this tab, you can:
  • See when each of the available business adapters is scheduled to run (and if the Next run column is blank, you need to attach a schedule)
  • Switch the schedule controlling when each business adapter is run and the resulting information is uploaded to the application server
  • Trigger an immediate run of a selected business adapter
  • Delete a business adapter so that it is no longer available in your enterprise
  • Modify one of your custom business adapters, or start creating a new one (see Creating a New Adapter or Editing an Existing Business Adapter in FlexNet Manager Suite System Reference.)
  • Update the latest collection of factory-supplied templates and sample files (covered in Adjusting the Web Server on the Inventory Beacon).

Concepts

The business importer gathers information that is not part of hardware and software inventory, but is helpful to managing your overall compliance position. Examples of business information include:
  • Details of software and maintenance purchases
  • Relevant contracts
  • The structure of your enterprise so that you can track allocations to different cost centers and business units.

The business importer works by running adapters that connect to other business systems where the raw information is held, and format the data for import into the operations databases for FlexNet Manager Suite. (This is a similar structure used for integrating with inventory sources, so we differentiate between inventory adapters and business adapters.)

Because each enterprise is unique, there are no standard business adapters; but there are business adapter templates to help you quickly build custom business adapters, using the Business Adapter Studio. Full details of the Business Adapter Studio are available in FlexNet Manager Suite System Reference.
