Updating Older Inventory Beacons

FlexNet Manager Suite 2024 R1 (On-Premises)

From release 2020 R2 of FlexNet Manager Suite, inventory beacons include the ServiceNow inventory connector configuration controls. For releases from 2019 R1 through 2020 R1, your existing inventory beacons support the operation of the connector, but do not yet have the configuration controls in place. If you wish to continue using your existing earlier implementation and installed inventory beacons, you can easily enhance your existing implementation to provide the configuration controls.

The process involves a simple installation on your central batch server (or in smaller implementations where this is not a separate server, whichever server is fulfilling that function). Thereafter the automatic process of beacon policy distribution provides the necessary update to all your connected inventory beacons, so that you can then use the guidance in subsequent topics to configure the inventory connector as usual.

To update inventory beacon versions 13.2.0 through 15.0.x:

1. Contact your Flexera Customer Success Manager or Support representative, and ask for the ServiceNow inventory connector enhancement package.
2. Use the details supplied to download the enhancement.
   Notice that the download includes a file of instructions.
3. Carefully follow the instructions provided to install the package on your central batch server (or functional equivalent).
4. Wait 24 hours for the automated processes to distribute the enhancement to all your connected inventory beacons.

With your inventory beacons automatically upgraded, you can now proceed with scheduling and configuring your ServiceNow inventory connector.
