Configuring a Proxy Server for Content Downloads
To configure a proxy server for downloading automated updates, such as content from the Application Recognition Library to your application server, navigate to your operating system or application's proxy settings. Enter the proxy server address, port number, and, if required, the proxy username and password.
There are several ways to configure a proxy server, either through your operating system or by using a dedicated third-party proxy application. Two common scenarios are outlined below, manually setting up a proxy server on Windows and macOS.
Manual configuration in Windows
- Open Settings > Network & Internet > Proxy.
- Under Manual proxy setup, enable Use a proxy server.
- Enter the proxy server address and port.
- If authentication is needed, enable it and provide credentials.
Manual configuration in macOS
- Go to System Preferences > Network.
- Select your active network and click Advanced > Proxies.
- Enable the required proxy protocol (for example, HTTP, HTTPS).
- Enter the server address and port.
- If authentication is needed, enable it and provide credentials.
- Enter the address of the proxy server using HTTPS or HTTP. Use the format https://ProxyServerURL:PortNumber or http://ProxyServerURL:PortNumber. For backward compatibility, the HTTP protocol is also supported, with a server-side redirect being issued to the relevant HTTPS address. If you choose to use HTTP protocols, the corresponding addresses must also be authorized through your proxy server; but HTTPS support remains a requirement.
- Ensure outbound access to port 443 is allowed.
- If your enterprise is using an authenticated proxy, you will need to specify the username and password of an account that has credentials to access the proxy server.

For downloading automated updates, the following URLs must be accessible through the proxy server:
- For the ARL: https://www.managesoft.com:443/support/Compliance/RecognitionAfter82.cab
- For the EOSL library: https://www.managesoft.com:443/support/Compliance/EOSL.cab
- For the SKU library: https://www.managesoft.com:443/support/Compliance/PURL.cab
- For the PURLs: https://update.managesoft.com:443/ProductUseRights, including access to any sub-directories of this that may be returned to your server in response to its initial request.
When the proxy server has been configured as described above, communications between FlexNet Manager Suite and the various libraries (ARL, PURLs, EOSL, and SKU) operate as normal, allowing for seamless automated updates.
