MSIX Editor Enhancements

The following improvements have been added to the MSIX Editor.

Support for New Additional Fixups

In AdminStudio 2022 R2, you can apply the following new fixups to an application in an MSIX Package to resolve certain runtime failures.

File Not Found Fixup
Executable Arguments Fixup
Registry Fixup
Environment Variable Fixup

Editing of Visual Assets

The Visual Assets view in MSIX Editor is editable now. You can modify the existing visual assets of an MSIX package or generate a new set of visual assets.

Support for Non-EXE Applications

You can create applications in an MSIX package pointing to a non-exe file. The following non-exe file format are supported to create an application: .bat, .cmd, .txt, .html and .docx.

To create a non-exe application, right-click on the Applications node and then select Add Application (non-exe) from the context menu.

Fixup Suggestions

Tracing an MSIX package in the MSIX Editor, will now suggest fixups based on the runtime error encountered while tracing. The recommendation fixups will be displayed in the new Recommended Fixups view.

Host AdminStudio Catalog on Azure SQL

You can now create AdminStudio application catalog on Azure SQL. Select Azure SQL option in the Application Catalog Wizard and provide the required details to create a catalog on Azure SQL.

Automate Package Feed Module Trial Packages

The Package Feed Module trial packages are now added to the Backlog tab to enable automation. Subscribe the PFM trial packages for automation and configure actions and a schedule to automatically download and process packages when a new version is made available in the Package Feed Module.

Support for Microsoft ConfigMgr 2207

In AdminStudio 2022 R2, you can distribute the following deployment types to Microsoft ConfigMgr 2207:

Windows Installer (MSI)
MSIX Package
Legacy installer (EXE)
PowerShell wrapped packages (PS1)
App-V (4.x and 5.0)
Apple iOS (binary file and public store)
Google Android (binary file and public store)

InstallShield 2022 R1

AdminStudio 2022 R2 includes InstallShield 2022 R1, that has the following new features and enhancements:

Support for Custom Declarations in MSIX
Visual Studio 2022 Integration
Minor Upgrade Support for Chained MSI
Validation of MSI
