Defining Global Custom Variables for Standard Catalog Items

A catalog item’s associated custom variables will be available for use in external web actions or script commands. For example, you may want to use the same action for Standard, Professional, Enterprise editions of a catalog item and you could use a custom variable to differentiate the messages.

You can add custom variables directly to a catalog item on the Custom Variables tab of the Catalog Item Properties dialog box, However, to make a custom variable globally available, you can add it to the Catalog Management > Catalog > Custom Variables view. Variables defined here will be available on the Custom Variables tab of all future catalog items.

Catalog Management > Catalog > Custom Variables View

Note:This feature is not applicable to Cloud catalog items. There is no Custom Variables tab on the Catalog Item Properties dialog box for a Cloud catalog item, and variables defined on the Catalog Management > Catalog > Custom Variables view are not available to Cloud catalog items. See Defining Custom Variables for Cloud Catalog Items.

On the Catalog Management > Catalog > Custom Variables view, you can add new variables and edit existing variables.
