Inventory Subtab

App Portal 2013 R2

Note: Not available when creating a group catalog item.

App Portal allows tracking of software and computers in use in your company. App Portal will count and link license data directly to the organizational data to allow for detailed reporting on license usage.

You can use the General > Inventory tab of the Catalog Item Properties dialog box to link inventory Item to Catalog Items as part of a tracking and usage process. You can assign inventory items to computers that request this catalog item on installation or approval.

The General > Inventory tab has three subtabs:

SCCM Inventory Group Subtab
Inventory Costs Subtab

If you have also purchased FlexNet Manager Platform and are connected to the Flexera Service Gateway, you can use App Portal to manage application licenses. On the General > Inventory > FlexNet Manager Platform Inventory tab, you specify inventory options.

Property

Description

Select an inventory group for product licensing

Choose an inventory group to link to the request. Linking inventory groups to requests allows the request to become aware of inventory owned vs. used. The difference of which can affect how users request the application and the type of approval (if any) that is required.

When inventory is exceeded

Choose what to do when the inventory count is exceeded:

Disable request and approval—Will not allow clients to request or approvers to approve requests when the license count is exceeded
Always require approval—Will require approval regardless of other settings for the package.
Do nothing—Will take no action when the license count is exceeded.

Show inventory count to users

Whether the current count of available licenses should be displayed to the user.

Show inventory cost to users

Whether the current cost of available licenses should be displayed to the user.

Assign inventory on installation / approval

Assigns the request to the user upon approval and installation. Assigning the inventory allows for a purchase to be related to the request and assists in determining whether an installation is authorized.

Use the cost of the inventory group

Sometimes you may wish to display a different cost to the end user than is identified in the inventory group. Select this setting if you wish to use the cost of the inventory group or specify the new cost in the Enter a custom cost box.

Prevent reinstall / allow uninstall and repair only if installed

Only allow the install option if the software is not currently installed and only allow the uninstall option if the software is installed.

Select an inventory group for product installation detection

In the event you need to use two different inventory groups for licensing and detection, or wish to detect a product without making it licensed, specify the inventory group for product installation detection here.

Inventory Costs Subtab

On the Inventory Costs tab, you can specify different costs based on currency. Those currencies that have been enabled under Site Management > Purchasing > Currency will be displayed here to offer a specific cost based on the users default currency.

When specified at the catalog item level, the currency translation based on rate conversions is not used. The actual fixed value specified in the Cost column is displayed instead.
