Config Manager
To create a new named connection to the Config Manager distribution system, perform the following steps.
Prerequisite.
Add this group policy in the DC.
Method 1: Via Group Policy (Recommended for Enterprise) in Domian controller
| • | Open Group Policy Management Console (on Domain Controller or management server). |
| • | Navigate to the appropriate GPO (or create new one). |
| • | Go to: |
Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows PowerShell
| • | Find and enable Turn on Script Execution. |
| • | Set to Allow local scripts and remote signed scripts or Allow all scripts. |
| • | Link the GPO to the OU containing your SCCM client machines. |
To create a new named connection to the Config Manager distribution system:
| 1. | On Settings menu, click Distribution Systems in the left pane. |
The Distribution Systems pane appears.
| 2. | Click Add New. |
| 3. | Use the following fields to add the Config Manager connection: |

Click the Distribution System Type drop down and select Config Manager from the list. |

Connection Name |
Enter name of the connection. |

Enter the server details. |

Site Code |
Enter the code that identifies your distribution system site |

Use SSL |
By default, this option will be selected and cannot be changed. |

Distribution System Authentication |

Authentication Type |
Select Server authentication type that will be used to access the specified distribution system. |

UserName |
Enter a valid username for the selected server. |

Password |
Enter a valid password for the selected server. |

Content Location Information |

Use Same Distribution server |
Note:By default, this option will be unselected. |

Content Location |
Enter the desired shared path or click ellipses (...) to browse and select the valid path. This field is available only when the Use Same Distribution Server option is selected. Note:Make sure that the shared location has both read and write permissions for proper access. |

Authentication Type |
Select Server authentication type that will be used to access the specified distribution system. Note:This field is available only when the Use Same Distribution Server option is selected. |

UserName |
Enter a valid username for the selected content server. Note:This field is available only when the Use Same Distribution Server option is selected. |

Password |
Enter a valid password for the selected content server. Note:This field is available only when the Use Same Distribution Server option is selected. |

| 4. | Click the Test & Save Connection button to ensure the settings you entered can be used to successfully connect to this service. It restarts Patch Publisher service automatically for the changes to take effect. You will receive a successful message in the Output Window. |
| 5. | On successful connection, the Config Manager Distribution System is added to the connections. |
| 6. | Click Restart Service ribbon for the change to take effect. |
