Customize Deduplication Rules via Private Catalog Settings

Important:This feature is currently supported only for customers who are using SQL Server as their DBMS for Data Platform.

This release introduces the ability for customer administrators to locally override Technopedia deduplication settings for specific software products. Existing dedupe rule overrides, COEXIST_VERSION and COEXIST_EDITION are now available in the UI. These override flags allow you to more easily align Data Platform’s deduping behavior with your organization’s asset tracking priorities.

Typically, Technopedia deduplication logic deems multiple installations, editions, or versions of the same software product to be duplicates, and only shows the most recent version or edition. Using the Administrative Console’s Technopedia Catalog settings, administrators can require that unique versions or editions of a designated software product will be shown. These settings leverage the use of deduplication override flags:

COEXIST_VERSION—permits multiple versions of the same software product.
COEXIST_EDITION—permits multiple editions of the same software product.

With this release, COEXIST_VERSION and COEXIST_EDITION are now exposed for configuration on a new Deduping tab in the Administrative Console’s Technopedia Catalog Settings.

For an extended discussion of how COEXIST_VERSION and COEXIST_EDITION flags alter deduplication behavior, see the following knowledge base article in the Flexera Customer Community: Deduplication Rules in Data Platform Normalize.

For more information about overriding deduplication behavior in the Administrative Console, see Deduping Settings in the Data Platform Administrator Guide.
