AdminStudio Accounts

When setting up AdminStudio, you need to give certain accounts enhanced permissions to other products. The following table lists the AdminStudio accounts and the required permissions:

Required Privileges

AdminStudio user accounts

Local workstation

System Center 2012 Configuration Manager (or later)

Require the Application Administrator role on System Center Configuration Manager.

FlexNet Manager Suite / FlexNet Manager Platform

See Accounts for Integration of AdminStudio and App Portal with FlexNet Manager Suite.

App Portal

When integrating with versions of App Portal prior to App Portal 2016, AdminStudio users just require access to the App Portal Web Site using Windows Authentication.

When integrating with App Portal 2016 and later, AdminStudio users need to have read and write access to App Portal catalog items so that AdminStudio can create App Portal catalog items.

SQL Server

In order to connect to an AdminStudio Application Catalog database, users require db_datareader, db_datawriter, execute, alter, and references permissions on the AdminStudio database. For detailed instructions on assigning these permissions, see Required Permissions on Application Catalog Databases.

Tip:The AdminStudio user account does not require these permissions if connecting to SQL Server using an SQL Server user account (which already has the appropriate permissions).
