Filtering the IT Visibility Inventory Beacons List
Important:
When the list of inventory beacons contains many entries, there are two different ways you can reduce the number of inventory beacons displayed:
• | Quick—In the Search field above the list, type (part of) the text you want to find. The value may come from any of the displayed columns. If you include any space(s), the values on either side are tested separately (a logical-OR of the values, and from any of the columns). As you type characters, the list is dynamically updated to show only matching entries. (You cannot add quotation marks to define an exact search string.) |
• | Precise—You can apply an exact-match filter to one or more of the data columns to isolate exactly the inventory beacons you want to see. For example, you could show only those inventory beacons that are Connected and yet Not reporting normally. |
Tip:This kind of filter is not available on the Name column.
To apply a precise filter:
1. | Hover over the header for the column you to want to configure to expose a small column menu icon on the right-hand side of the column’s header. |
2. | Click this column menu icon. |
A pop-up appears with either two or three tabs that contain the following buttons:
Button |
Used for |
|
Column management |
|
Filter control |
|
Column chooser to include/exclude columns in this listing |
Clicking only the column header itself changes the sort order of the column.
3. | Select the filter control tab. |
A check list appears showing the values possible in this column, together with a (Select All) convenience check box that turns all items on or off at once. When all items are off, there can be no results shown in the table. The list also has a Search... field at the top, where you can type (partial) values to narrow the range of controls shown in this check list.
• | Adjust the check boxes to display only your desired values in this column. |
• | Optionally, you may repeat this for another column (or columns). |
• | To close the pop-up, click elsewhere on the page. |
• | To clear (or remove) a filter, re-open the filter pop-up for the appropriate column, and remove the value(s) being used for testing entries (for example, select the (Select All) entry). |
