Creating a New Custom Analytics Widget

If additional widgets are required that are not currently available in IT Asset Management, users can create an analytics-based widgets powered by IBM Cognos Analytics.

Creating a new custom analytics widget requires a role with the Configure FlexNet Manager Platform properties access right (located under Administration > IT Asset Management Settings > IT Asset Accounts > Roles > Administrator > user account > Configure FlexNet Manager Platform properties).

Note:Make sure to only create analytics widgets from publicly accessible dashboards or reports in Flexera Analytics. If private Flexera Analytics dashboards or reports are used, other users will be unable to view the new widget.

To create an analytics widget:

1.

First navigate to the required dashboard or report from the My Analytics Home page (Dashboards > My Analytics Home).

Once the required dashboard or report is open, click the ellipsis button on the top right-hand corner and click the Embed button.

Copy the HTML text in the text box and navigate back to your personal IT Asset Management dashboard.

Go to Dashboards > IT Asset Management. The IT Asset Management dashboard appears.

Click Manage Custom Widgets.

The Manage custom analytics widgets dialog appears.

6.

From the drop-down list, click Create a new analytics widget.

7.

In the Widget field, enter a valid widget name.

8.

In the Analytics Path field, paste in the HTML text copied previously in Step 3.

9.

In the Dimension fields, enter the dimensions you would like the new analytics widget to be and click Create.

Once the new analytics widget has been created, users will be able add the new widget into their own IT Asset Management dashboard.
