Date Filters in Dashboards

Note: IT Visibility is being upgraded with the introduction of Technology Intelligence Platform beginning in September 2024. Flexera will contact you directly regarding the timeframe of your upgrade. With Technology Intelligence Platform, out-of-the-box IT Visibility dashboards are being replaced with new, enhanced IT Visibility Technology Intelligence Platform reports. For more information, see IT Visibility With Technology Intelligence Platform Reports.

The date filter on Dashboard enables you to filter your data by:

All time that includes all available data
Static period where you specify a range: 07/07/2023 - 07/31/2023
Relative period where you specify a range that is relative to today and changes in time: 9 days ago - tomorrow.
Predefined periods for weeks, months, quarters, and years relative to today: Last quarter, This month, Last year.

The following sections describe how to filter your dashboard data:

Filtering by a Static Period
Filtering by a Relative Period
Filtering by Predefined Periods—Days, Weeks, Months, Quarters, Years

Filtering by a Static Period

You can filter your dashboard data from a specific date to a specific date.

To filter data from a specific date to a specific date:

1. From the Date range dropdown list, select Static period.
2. Set the dates.
3. Click Apply.

Note:When using a static period, you cannot set alerts and compare data with the previous period for KPIs.

Filtering by a Relative Period

The relative period filter enables you to filter your data by last period and/or next period. For example, you can filter from last 2 months to next 3 months using the current date as the starting point for the calculation.

Note:The relative period is relative to today and adjusts in time.

To filter data by relative period:

1. From the Date range dropdown list, select Relative period.
2. Select granularity—days, weeks, months, quarters, or years.
3. From the dropdown lists, select the specific range.

Note:Consider the following:

You can write a number to display specific options. For example, if you select the granularity as Days and type 2 in the from text box, the following options display: 2 days ahead and 2 days ago.
Use the following keywords: yesterday/today/tomorrow for days or next/this/last for other periods.
4. Click Apply.

Filtering by Predefined Periods—Days, Weeks, Months, Quarters, Years

You can filter data by predefined time periods.

To filter data by predefined time periods:

1. From the Date range dropdown list, select a predefined time period.
2. To exclude data from the current period, select the Exclude <period> checkbox.

If you want to display the average daily revenue from the last 7 days, you exclude today because it contains incomplete/partial data. The insight then shows the data 7 days before today.

Note:You can exclude only periods that end with the current day, such as Last 7 days and Last 4 quarters.

3. Click Apply.

How the Dashboard Date Filter and Insight Date Filters Interact

When you add insights to the dashboards, they are filtered by the dashboard date filter. The insight may include their own date filters as well (see Creating Insights to Visualize Your Data).

To disable the insight filter, clear the Filter by date option on the right side pane.
