Importing SBOM Parts Into a Bucket

Importing SBOM parts from other sources is a common and easy way to add parts to a bucket. You can import parts from these types of SBOM data files:

SPDX v2.2 or 2.3 data file (.spdx)
CycloneDX v1.4 data file (.json or .xml)
Revenera Code Insight project export data file (.json)

Important:The maximum data file size is 250MB.

To import SBOM parts into a bucket:

1. Open the Manage Buckets page (SBOM Management > Manage Buckets).

The page contains a grid showing all currently defined buckets and their properties.

2. Locate the bucket you into which you want to import parts.
3. Use one of these methods to provide the SBOM data file whose contents you are importing:
In a File Explorer or file manager instance currently open, locate the SBOM data file, and drag and drop it into the box indicated on the Import SBOM page.
Click anywhere within the indicated box on the Import SBOM slideout to open a new instance of the File Explorer or file manager. Within the Explorer or file manager, select the SBOM data file and then double-click it (or select Open) to add it to the box.
4. Click Import to start the import process.

A message in the top right corner of the page confirms that the import process has been placed in the Jobs queue and lists the Job ID for the import.

The Jobs page is automatically opened so that you can view the status of your import job. (Use the Job ID listed in the confirmation message to locate the job.)

Once the job is complete, you can view the imported SBOM parts. (See Viewing SBOM Parts.)
