Freeing Licenses by Feature
Sometimes, an application stops responding (or hangs) and consumes a license that you would like to free so it can be used by another user. Note that if the application is active, it re-checks out the license shortly after it is freed.
Users assigned a role with the Manage Licenses in Use permission can free a license, if its license server was configured to allow licenses to be freed before the license server was started.
To locate a license by its feature name and free the license:
| 1. | From the Activity tab, under Concurrent, click Concurrent by Feature to display the Concurrent by Feature - Summary page. |
| 2. | Click the Users link for the feature to display the Concurrent Usage by Feature - Users page. |
| 3. | Select the check box next to the feature whose license you want to free. |
| 4. | Click Free Selected Licenses. |
If the Free Selected Licenses button is disabled, it means the license server has not been configured to allow licenses to be freed (that is, it has been started with the –x lmremove option) and/or that the user is not assigned a role with the Manage Licenses in Use permission.
Note:Licenses that have been detached or activated cannot be freed.
