Running as a Windows Service

FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Reporting can run as a Windows service. The service is named FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Reporting and it is run as the user you specified in the Reporting Configurator. If you chose to install FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Reporting as a Windows service, start the service using the Windows Administrative Tools.

If you did not choose to install Reporting as a service during its installation, you can configure it to run as a service at any time by re-running the Reporting Configurator to configure and install the service.

To configure to run as a Windows service:

1. Stop FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Reporting:
a. Open a Command prompt and change to the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Reporting installation directory.
b. Type the command:

flexnet stop

2. To start the Configurator, from the same directory, type flexnet site.
3. Select Install as Service and configure the service user.
4. Click Finish. The site directory is re-created and the service is installed.
5. Go to System Properties > Advanced > Environment Variables...
6. Enter a new system variable for JAVA_HOME, and set the (default) value to:
C:\Program Files\FLEXnet\Manager\reporting\jvm (or whatever your actual installation locations is).

Because this method of installing the Windows service is recorded in the settings in the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Reporting Configurator, if flexnet site make is run, the Windows service remains installed.
