Installing and Configuring the Oracle Client
To install the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Reporting Server and the Oracle database (containing the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Reporting database) on different machines on your network, you need to install the Oracle Instant Client on the machine that will host the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Reporting Server. This enables Reporting to connect to the Oracle database.
The version of the Oracle Client should be same as that of the Oracle Database version. For information about the Oracle Client, visit http://www.oracle.com.

Only the 32-bit Oracle client is supported on 64-bit operating systems. |
To configure Oracle to work with FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Reporting when installed on different machines:

1.

Install the Oracle Client on the machine on which you will install the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Reporting. |

|
At the prompt that asks “What type of installation do you want?”, select Administrator. |
|
b.
|
Complete the installation. |
|
2.
|
Use the Oracle Net Configuration Assistant to configure Local Net Service Name configuration. This local service should point to the service where the flexnetadmin/flexnetreporting database is running. |

3.
|
Select Add and provide details to set up Net Service Name. |
