Assigning Unassigned Features to Products

A feature that is not associated with a product is an unassigned feature. The Assign Features page displays a list of unassigned features and enables you to select features for assignment to a particular product.

The list of unassigned features is populated after you import report logs and aggregate the report log data.

To assign unassigned features to products:

From the Planner tab, under Features, click Unassigned Features to display the Assign Features page.

Provide information about the product to which you want to assign the features. Required settings are identified by a red asterisk (*).

Setting	Description
Software Producer	Select the name of the software producer who makes the product to which you want to add the features. When you select a software producer, the Product Name list is populated with products from the selected software producer. Note:The software producer name must match the name for the feature in the Software Producer column (in the list at the bottom of the page).
Product Name	Select the name of the product to which you want to add the features.
Minimum Feature Version	Minimum feature version that is required for the product. This field accepts a string. This value can be used by the product usage aggregation process to fine-tune the association of feature usage to product usage. Some FlexEnabled (FlexNet-licensed) products specify a minimum version for the feature that is required to satisfy a checkout request. For example, the aggregation process may need to determine whether a checkout of version 1.0 should be included for a particular product. If the product definition requires that the minimum feature version is 2.0, then the version 1.0 checkout will not be grouped as usage for the product.
Feature Licenses Per Product License	Number of feature licenses, expressed as an integer, that are included in a single product license for the product.

From the list of unassigned features, select the check boxes in front of the names of the features that you want to map to the specified product. Selected features must be from a vendor daemon associated with the software producer specified or from a vendor daemon that is not associated with a software producer.

An error message is displayed if you select a feature from a vendor daemon that is associated with a software producer different from the one specified in the top section of the page.

Click Assign Selected Features. The selected features are mapped to the product and removed from the unassigned features list.
