UNIX User Criteria for Installing and Using FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications
To install and use FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications, UNIX users must meet the criteria described in this section.
Installing on a UNIX Host
To install FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin/Reporting on a UNIX host, the user who runs the installer must meet the following criteria:

The user is not the root user. |

The user must have write access to both a home directory and to the selected installation directory. |
Using on UNIX Systems
On UNIX systems, each FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin/Reporting user must meet these criteria:

The user is not the root user. |
|
•
|
The user who starts the Admin/Reporting servers must have a valid DISPLAY environment variable set to a host machine that is running an X server. If you are using an X server to display to a machine different from where Admin/Reporting is running, the display machine must have the required version of Java. |

If the user does not have a DISPLAY variable set, the installer and Configurator can be run separately in silent/console mode. |

The user who starts the Admin/Reporting servers must have write permissions to the /var/tmp directory. |
|
•
|
The current directory (.) must be in the path of the user who starts Admin/Reporting. |
