Accessibility Improvements
IT Asset Management version 2025 R1
Accessibility enhancements have been made to ensure compliance with WCAG 2.1 standards.
Particular emphasis was placed on achieving error-free validation using the IBM Equal Access Accessibility Checker, part of the IBM Equal Access Toolkit. This toolkit helps verify alignment with WCAG accessibility guidelines.
The following updates include both visible and behind-the-scenes changes to the
IT Asset Management user interface in the browser:
- Responsive Layout—The UI now scales more effectively with different browser window sizes. Navigation elements, input fields, and buttons dynamically adapt to screen dimensions, ensuring full functionality even on smaller displays.
- Consistent Navigation Concept—Tab navigation within property forms has been relocated to the left side of the screen, improving keyboard accessibility. In many areas of the application, navigation elements, tabs, and key action buttons are now fixed during scrolling, maintaining their visibility and accessibility on long pages.
- Enhanced Keyboard Usability—Users can now access all key functions of the application via keyboard alone. Focus behavior for input fields and buttons has been further optimized.
- WCAG-Compliant Contrast—The color scheme has been slightly adjusted to meet recommended contrast ratios, enhancing visual clarity for users with vision impairments.
- Improved Screen Reader Support—Extensive enhancements have been made to labels and HTML markup to better support screen readers. Text relying on sensory characteristics has been revised, and control element roles have been refined to enhance both keyboard navigation and screen reader interpretation.
