Creating a Flexera Cloud view within Tanium Asset

You must manually create the Flexera Cloud view in Tanium Asset to enable the Tanium adapter to correctly import cloud properties from Tanium into IT Asset Management.

To create the Flexera Cloud view in Tanium Asset:

  1. Sign in to Tanium Asset.
  2. On the navigation menu, click the Modules icon, and go to Asset > Inventory Management > Attributes.
  3. Click Add Entities & Attributes > Add Entities & Attributes.
  4. In the Add Attribute section, find and add the following attributes:
    Note: If an attribute has already been added before, it will not appear in this section.
    • Cloud Instance Provider
    • Cloud Instance Account
    • Cloud Instance Type
    • Cloud Instance Region
    • Cloud Instance Zone
    • Cloud Instance Image
    Note: These attributes will initially appear in a Pending state. After some time, they will be available to be selected in asset reports and views.
  5. On the navigation menu, click the Modules icon, and go to Asset > Views.
  6. Click Create View.
    The Create View page displays.
  7. In the Name field, enter "Flexera Cloud".
    Important: This exact name must be entered.
  8. In the Description field, enter a description of your choice.
  9. In the Select columns from Asset Tables section, select the following columns:
    • Asset ID
    • Cloud Instance Provider
    • Cloud Instance Account
    • Cloud Instance ID
    • Cloud Instance Type
    • Cloud Instance Region
    • Cloud Instance Zone
    • Cloud Instance Image
  10. In the Asset Details Filter section, add a filter to exclude devices without a cloud instance provider. This configuration reduces unnecessary data.
    A sample filter is:
    Cloud Instance Provider is not null AND Cloud Instance Provider is not equal toEndpoint does not appear to host a local metadata service
  11. Click Submit.
    The Flexera Cloud view displays in the list of asset views.
