This section describes the compatibility of IT Asset Management 2024 R2.5 with other products at the time of release.

Integration with Other Products

IT Asset Management integrates with the following products and components. Support for third-party products is based on the original software vendors' publicly stated support dates. If an environment is no longer supported by the original software producer, Flexera will provide "as is" support, meaning troubleshooting issues, without committing to any defect fixes or enhancements. This table details the currently supported versions.

Does this product/component serve as a third-party inventory source or a Flexera inventory source

The Type of inventory source column indicates whether a supported product or component contributes inventory data as a third-party inventory source or as Flexera collected inventory. While all products and components contribute to the inventory imported into Flexera, the distinction lies in how the data is gathered: either through a third-party system or directly by Flexera.

Values in this column will be either Third-party or Flexera:

  • Third-party indicates that the inventory data is collected by an external system. Flexera connects to this third-party source, retrieves the inventory data, and then imports it.

  • Flexera means that Flexera collects the inventory data independently, without relying on any external system. In this case, Flexera is the sole collector of the inventory information.

It's important to note that the Type of inventory source column does not apply to evidence gathered directly from a machine, such as WMI or registry data. Flexera does not connect to WMI to collect inventory. Instead, WMI provides evidence that Flexera gathers and uses. In contrast, Flexera does connect directly to sources like VMware, which are considered inventory sources.

Tip: Do not confuse the individual BigFix products. HCL BigFix platform (or Platform, often referred to as simply "BigFix") and HCL BigFix Inventory are quite distinct. You may import inventory from HCL BigFix Platform if this is your only BigFix product. However, if you also have HCL BigFix Inventory, you normally need import inventory only from HCL BigFix Inventory (see below). (HCL acquired the BigFix family from IBM in December 2018.)
