Setting Up Compliance Rules for Inventory Devices
IT Asset Management (Cloud)
For compliance purposes, you can choose what types of configuration and hardware changes IT Asset Management must track for each type of a device. You can track these changes for the following device types: laptops, mobile devices, servers, and workstations.
Remember: Properties of an inventory device are automatically tracked only
after that device is linked to an asset. If a hardware property has changed after
the inventory device was linked, the asset it is linked to gets displayed on the
Changed Device Assets page.
To set hardware compliance rules:
Tip: If your procurement process for new hardware includes creating asset
records before the hardware is deployed, be sure to include the correct serial
number in an asset record. Later, when the new computer is deployed, and its first
inventory details gathered, the serial number is returned as a property of the
inventory device. If serial numbers of new inventory devices match the serial
numbers of asset records not yet linked to any device, IT Asset Management
automatically links the asset record to its inventory device.
