IT Asset Management (Cloud)
You must be in the
Current Simulations page (see
Accessing License Simulations).
Tip: Remember that you
must have run at least one license reconciliation to be able to create useful
simulations.
To add a new simulation:
-
In the tool bar above the list of any existing simulations, click
Add.
There is a brief delay while
IT Asset Management assesses the most
recent full license reconciliation, and collects enterprise-wide data on all
installations of all applications linked to any of the license types supported
by the simulation feature. Then the new simulation displays, and
includes:
- All supported licenses and related software
- The hardware associated with each software installation
- The virtual host and any associated resource pools (when the software is
installed on a virtual machine)
- All other virtualization host servers (that is, the ones that do not
have any of the related software installed) are also included, as the
VMs on these hosts are likely targets for your new deployment
simulations.
-
At the top right of the work page, in the Tasks
panel, click Rename simulation.
The Rename Simulation dialog
appears.
-
Enter a new name for your simulation.
Tip: Consider including numbering or a date in the name to help
distinguish different experiments you may try.
-
Click Save to close the dialog.
Tip: There is no need to save the simulation. It is automatically
saved after every change.
The simulation is renamed at the top of your work page, and also
in the list of Current Simulations when you next access that
page.
You may now make changes to the default content of your simulation.
