IT Asset Management (Cloud)

This tab displays the information about the platform of the discovered device. Any changes to the fields on this tab may be overwritten by discovery actions.

The following discovered device properties are available (listed alphabetically) on this tab.

This device has an agent installed

Indicates whether the discovered computer has a FlexNet Inventory Agent installed on it. A computer with an installed FlexNet Inventory Agent is sometimes called a managed device. The check box may be set in one of three ways:

• If the discovered device is 'adopted' (that is, has the full FlexNet Inventory Agent automatically installed on it) within the last 30 days, this check box is set (this creates a 'grace period' of an initial 30 days to wait for the first inventory upload)
• If the FlexNet Inventory Agent has uploaded inventory within the last 30 days, and the FlexNet Inventory Agent is itself visible in that inventory, it is also set (meaning that if there has been no inventory uploaded for the last 30 days, the device is considered to have fallen out of management; but the check box stays set for as long as inventory including the FlexNet Inventory Agent is being uploaded in cycles of less than 30 days)
• You can set it manually to correct any detection errors.

The value of this field is automatically updated only after a successful import and reconciliation.

Select this check box to indicate that the discovered computer has the FlexNet Inventory Agent installed on it.

This device is a virtualization host or management server

Indicates whether the discovered computer is a virtual host or a management server. A virtual host is a computer with multiple IP addresses configured in such a way that it provides a different service on each of these IP addresses. These IP addresses act as distinct hosts on distinct machines.

Select this check box to indicate that the discovered computer is a virtual host or a management server. If this property is not selected for a known virtual device, you can select it manually. When you select this check box, you need to select a virtualization product from the Virtualization product drop-down and a virtualization port from the Virtualization port list.

This device is a virtual desktop broker

Indicates whether the discovered device is running a Citrix broker service and can be used to discover virtual desktop infrastructure. A desktop broker allows clients to access various types of server-hosted desktops and applications. It performs the following main tasks:

• Checking user credentials.
• Assigning users to remote desktops.
• Load balancing the servers hosting remote desktops.
• Managing desktop images.

Select this check box and enter the name of the virtual desktop broker product.

This device is a virtual desktop

Indicates whether the discovered computer is a virtual desktop. A virtual desktop is the interface provided to an individual user in a virtualized environment. A virtualization server generally offers many virtual desktop connections for multiple users. The Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) enables multiple users to work on a single server in such a way that each user feels like working on an individual physical computer.

Select this check box to indicate that the discovered computer is a virtual desktop.
