IT Asset Management 2023 R2.3 (Cloud)

To drill down through the data, simply select a bar in the bar chart, representing data taken from an existing optimization report.

  • The Estimated Savings vs. Classical Approach widget displays the difference between the "optimal licenses" cost computed by the reports, and the "Safe but expensive" approach, that consists of licensing all ESX servers with the "unlimited virtualization" Data Center or Enterprise editions.
Tip: The optimal license for each server can be calculated by running the corresponding IT Asset Management optimization report(s). By adopting this approach, you can save on average 30% of your Windows Server costs, and avoid over expenditure of licensing ESX servers with "Data center" editions of the product(s).
Tip: Licensing with "Data center", means paying a higher price to cover all ESX servers hosting an unlimited number of VMs. Even though this approach may be more convenient, this can lead to massive license overspend.
  • The Save By Taking Action: Top 5 widget displays the recommendations of the "Oracle Optimum Virtual Target Architecture" and "Named User License Consumption and Optimization" reports. The widget will show Oracle and all Publishers reported with potential savings in the Named User License consumption and Optimization report. The widgets shows the 5 Publishers with the largest savings. Taking action based on the recommendations, such as grouping common VMs into specialized clusters; uninstalling and cancelling user subscriptions for installed applications not in use, will help you implement best practices for server licensing and subsequently result in significant cost savings.
Note: Optimized data from the widgets and trend snapshots are stored in the DataWarehouse database, and sliced by enterprise groups.
