Overview: Adding a Business Data Import

FlexNet Manager Suite 2019 R1 (On-Premises Edition)

For repeated, scheduled imports, business data can be imported into FlexNet Manager Suite using "business adapters", which load the data from your chosen data source, reformat the data to suit the compliance database, and prepare it for upload from your inventory beacon to the central application server. Because it cannot write directly from the inventory beacon into your central database, this business adapter is said to operate in 'disconnected mode'.

A business adapter may also run in 'connected mode'. In this case, the business adapter must be executed directly on your central application server, where it has direct database access, and can write the imported data directly into your database.

Because each data source is unique, you must custom-build each business adapter (or ask the Professional Services team from Flexera to develop it for you). Business adapters are created and tested using the Business Adapter Studio, supplied as a standard part of your installation of FlexNet Manager Suite. Full documentation for the Business Adapter Studio is included in the FlexNet Manager Suite 2019 R1 System Reference PDF, available through the title page of online help).

Within the Business Adapter Studio chapter, the topic Overview: Development Process for Business Adapter gives a good road map for your development process, and provides links to the topics containing relevant details for each step.
