FlexNet Manager Suite 2019 R1 (On-Premises Edition)
When Oracle Database inventory is being collected remotely by an inventory beacon, the connection must be brokered by an Oracle listener. While some methods of
discovery automatically provide details of the listeners and the services (or
database instances) they manage, sometimes this is not possible (for example,
discovery by network scanning does not work for Oracle Database version 12c and
later, when the remote use of an administrative password was discontinued). For
such situations, you can manually create (or edit) a discovered device record to
allow direct inventory gathering (where the inventory beacon remotely accesses
the database instance to collect Oracle database inventory).
To add listeners and services to a discovered device record:
-
In the discovered device properties sheet, click the
Database tab. (For more information, see Databases Tab.)
-
Select This device is running Oracle software.
FlexNet Manager Suite displays a table of listeners and services. In
a new record, this contains only grouping rows for each data type.
-
Do either of the following:
FlexNet Manager Suite displays an editing area for the listener
properties.
-
Enter the Name, optionally the Oracle
Version to which the listener gives access, and
(critically) the Port to access the listener, and click
Add to create a listener.
A listener record appears in the
Listeners
hierarchy.
Note: If you create a Single Client Access Name (SCAN) listener
for an Oracle cluster, FlexNet Manager Suite collects discovery and
inventory information for all Oracle databases present in
cluster.
-
To manage services, clear any existing selected check box in the table, and do
either of the following:
- To register a service (database instance) under a listener, select the
listener record and click Create a Service.
- To modify an existing service name, click the +
icon before Listeners, click the
+ icon before the desired listener record, select
its desired service, and click Open.
FlexNet Manager Suite displays the service editing area.
Tip: Do not add services in the Unassigned
services group, as these will not be inventoried, since
no listener will be asked to provide a connection to an unassigned
service.
-
Enter the service Name and click
Add.
-
Repeat for any additional listeners and services on this target device.
-
When you have added all listeners and their services for the current discovered
device, remember to click Create (for a new record) or
Save (for an edited record) to store your data in the
compliance database.
