Registering Your Serial Number

InstallShield 2014 Express Edition

Registration entitles you to product updates and special offers. If you try to activate InstallShield but your serial number has not been registered, the activation wizard that is displayed when you launch InstallShield prompts you to register online. If you received a serial number in the format XXXXXXX-XXX-XXXXXXXXXX (7 characters, followed by 3 characters, followed by 10 characters), you need to register your serial number to obtain a serial number in the proper format (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX; that is, 4 sets of 4 characters); this latter format is the one that you can use to activate the product.

Serial Number Formats
Format	Description
XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX (4 sets of 4 characters)	Serial numbers in this format are used to activate the product.
XXXXXXX-XXX-XXXXXXXXXX (7 characters, followed by 3 characters, followed by 10 characters)	This format is used as the order number for some purchases of the product. Serial numbers in this format must be registered in order to obtain a serial number that can be used to activate the product.
