Searching for Targets
When the Search for people or computers, Search using account attributes, or People who report to me option is selected on the Choose Target panel, the next step in the checkout process will be to search and specify the targets of the request.

Selecting a Target from a List of Users / Computers
To select a target by searching a list of users / computers, perform the following steps.
To select a target from a list of users/computers:
1. | On the Choose Target panel of the Checkout Wizard, select Search for people or computers, as described in Choosing a Target or Target Option, and click Next. The Choose Target /Users for Request On Behalf Panel panel opens. |
2. | Search for targets using the Filter By fields: User Name, Full Name or Machine Name. |
3. | Once the record is located, select the checkbox and select the Add Selected Records button at the bottom of the top grid. |
Note:When each item is selected, it goes through several checks to validate the selection against the items being requested. If there is a problem with adding one of the selections, a warning icon is displayed. Hover over the icon to display the message. Not all warnings prevent the device from being added.
4. | After selecting the targets, click Next to continue. |
Selecting a Target Using Account Attributes
To select a target device by searching a list of users by Active Directory property value, perform the following steps.
Note:The properties that are available for searching are specified on the Site Management > Active Directory > Property Mapping view
To search for a target device using account attributes:
1. | On the Choose Target panel of the Checkout Wizard, select Search using account attributes, as described in Choosing a Target or Target Option, and click Next. The Choose Target /Users for Request On Behalf Panel panel opens. |
2. | Use the Select a property and Select a value lists to specify an Active Directory property/value. |
3. | Click Search. Users/ that match the selected property/value pair are listed. |
4. | Use the Filter By fields to further refine the list. |
5. | Once the record is located, select the checkbox and select the Add Selected Records button at the bottom of the top grid. |

Selecting a Target from a List of Direct Reports
To select a target device by searching a list of your direct reports, perform the following steps.
To search for a target from a list of direct reports:
1. | On the Choose Target panel of the Checkout Wizard, select People who report to me, as described in Choosing a Target or Target Option, and click Next. The Choose Target /Users for Request On Behalf Panel panel opens, listing only those users who report to you. |
Note:The People who report to me option on the Choose Target panel is only displayed if the Enable request to AD manager? option is selected for the catalog item, and the requester has direct reports defined in the user data source (such as in Active Directory).
2. | Search for targets using the Filter By fields: User Name, Full Name or Machine Name. |
3. | Once the record is located, select the checkbox and select the Add Selected Records button at the bottom of the top grid. |
