Choosing a Target or Target Option

On the Choose Target panel of the Checkout Wizard, you will need to specify who this item is being requested for. You can either submit a request for yourself or on behalf of another user (if you have the required security permission).
Note:When a requester is requesting a catalog item for themselves, the Choose Target panel is not displayed (and the checkout is automatically advanced to the next panel) if:
• | The requester has only one registered device. |
• | The catalog item only allows for install (instead of both install and uninstall). |
To choose a target option:
1. | Perform the steps in Launching Checkout. The Choose Target panel of the Checkout Wizard opens. |
The number of options that are listed on the Choose Target panel vary depending upon the catalog item’s selected properties (especially the “request on behalf options”), the requester’s security permissions, and whether or not the requester has direct reports.
Important:The Choose Target panel is only displayed if the user has the ability to request to a device other than their current one, or if the item allows for both install and uninstall. In the absence of these choices, the Me on machine DEVICENAME and Install options are selected by default and the checkout is automatically advanced to the next panel.

Search using account attributes |
Select to be able to search a list of users by Active Directory property value to locate the target device(s) / user(s) of the request. Note:The properties that are available for searching are specified on the Site Management > Active Directory > Property Mapping view. |

Add machine names or user IDs manually |
Select if you want to manually add a list of machine names or user IDs to identify the target device(s) / user(s) of the request. |

Image a new computer or existing computer |
Select if you want to identify a new computer as the target. The new computer can either be imported or selected from a list (if already registered with your selected deployment technology). Note:This option is listed for OSD task sequence catalog items only. |

Important:If App Portal is pointing to a different instance of System Center Configuration Manager than the System Center Configuration Manager client on the requester’s computer, then the following error message will be displayed on the Choose Target panel: Cannot select because this machine is not a recognized client.
