IBM Db2 Database and Add-Ons Report

The IBM Db2 Database and Add-Ons report provides details of your Db2 database infrastructure. It displays the Db2 applications installed and, for each installation, the add-ons that are licensed or used.

Note:This report requires that:

• Inventory is collected from devices where IBM Db2 is installed (whether stand-alone computers, or hosts where VMs are running Db2) by the locally-installed Inventory Agent (any inventory from other sources is ignored for this report)
• Only inventory collected using the built-in Db2 commands, notably db2licm, is included (other FlexNet inventory, such as file evidence or MSI installer evidence gathered from the same inventory devices, is not included in this report)
• On UNIX-like platforms, the Inventory Agent must be running as root, as this elevated level of privilege is required to run the required Db2 commands on these platforms
• The PerformIBMDB2Inventory preference must be true on each device where this specialized inventory is to be collected. This is the default value for the preference, and is used unless the preference is deliberately set to false either in the command line, in the registry on Windows, or in config.ini on UNIX-like platforms.

On any device where any one or more of these conditions is not met, collection of the specialized inventory for IBM Db2 Database and its add-ons cannot proceed, and any such devices are excluded from this report.

Each row in the report displays the version and edition of IBM Db2 Database installed on the inventory device, and any add-on that is enabled or used on that Db2 installation. Any add-on that is neither licensed nor used is excluded from the report.

If there is no add-on enabled or used on a particular installation of IBM Db2 Database product, the columns related to the add-on are blank in that row.

Generating the Report

To generate the report, perform the following steps.

To generate an IBM Db2 Database and Add-Ons report:

1. Go to the IBM Db2 Database and Add-Ons report (Reporting > License Reports > IBM Db2 Database and Add-Ons).
2. Click Run report.

Reading the Report

The following columns (listed here in alphabetical order) are available. By default, some are displayed in the report, and others are available in the column chooser.

Property

Description

Add-on application name

The name of the recognized Db2 add-on application, which may be:

• Set by the Application Recognition Library, and not editable (for applications with Source: Flexera)
• Added manually by an operator, and editable (for applications with Source: Local)
• Derived from the evidence values for Product, Version, and Edition properties (when generated by IT Asset Management), and editable to suit your corporate standards.

Editable values can be changed on the General tab of the application properties.

Add-on license name

The license consumed by the Db2 add-on application recognized on this inventory device.

Db2 add-on license status

Whether or not the add-on application is reported as licensed by the Db2 db2licm -l command. Possible values are:

• Licensed 
• Not licensed 

Db2 add-on status

The compliance status of the add-on application, as reported by the Db2 db2licm -g command. Possible values are:

• Violation—The add-on has been used at least once, but is not licensed
• In compliance—The add-on has been used at least once, and is licensed
• Not used—The add-on has not yet been used, but is licensed.

Db2 compliance status

The compliance status of the IBM Db2 Database, as self-reported by the db2licm -g command. Possible values are:

• Violation—The database has been used at least once, but is not licensed
• In compliance—The database has been used at least once, and is licensed
• Not used—The database has not yet been used, but is licensed.

Db2 enforcement policy

The value of the Enforcement policy field output by the db2licm -l command.

Db2 instances

A comma-separated list of all the database instances for the particular IBM Db2 Database installation where the db2ilist command was executed.

Db2 license type

The license type returned by the IBM Db2 command db2licm -l.

Db2 product identifier

The product identifier output from the db2licm -l command.

Edition

Edition of the IBM Db2 Database application installed on the inventory device.

Exemption reason

The reason why this installation of the IBM Db2 Database is exempt from consuming license entitlements from the associated license, even though the inventory data has been found or allocations are in place (or both).

Expiry date

The value reported in the “Expiry date” field of the db2licm -l output. This may include text values such as Permanent or License not registered, as well dates in the MM/DD/YYYY format.

Host manufacturer

The company making and selling the computer hosting the relevant virtual machine.

Editable in the General tab of the inventory device properties (for manually- created records).

Host model

The manufacturer’s model name or number for this device.

Editable in the Model field in the General tab of the inventory device properties (for manually-created records). If the value is gathered from inventory, it cannot be edited, but it can be overridden by entering a new value in the Overridden field in General tab of the inventory device properties. The original value continues to display on the General tab, alongside the overridden value, and may be restored at any time.

Host name

The host of the VM where Db2 is installed. The column is blank if either:

• The computer is a stand-alone device (one that is neither a virtual machine nor a virtual host)
• The device is an orphan VM (one with no identifiable host).

Host processors

The total number of central processing units (CPUs) available in this host.

Host processor type

The type of processor installed in this host. Populated and (by default) updated by inventory imports, this value can be manually overwritten in the Hardware tab of the inventory device properties.

Installation path

The location on the inventory device where the IBM Db2 Database is installed, as:

• Returned by the db2ls command on UNIX-like platforms
• Identified in the registry on Windows platforms.

Inventory device

The name of the device where IBM Db2 is installed (along with possible add-ons).

Inventory device domain name

The name of the domain to which the computing device belongs.

Editable in the General tab of the inventory device properties for manually created records. The value is overwritten (permanently) by incoming inventory, and thereafter is read-only.

Inventory device IP address

The IP address of the inventory device. For inventory devices with multiple IP addresses (for example, those with multiple network cards), a comma-separated list (up to 256 characters) is shown. IP addresses in the IPv6 address family are not reported in FlexNet inventory for devices running UNIX-like operating systems.

Editable in the General tab of the inventory device properties.

Inventory device manufacturer

The company making and selling either the computer hosting the relevant virtual machine, or the stand-alone computer.

Editable in the General tab of the inventory device properties (for manually- created records).

Inventory device role

The role assigned to the inventory device, such as Development, Test, and Production. Device roles (where permitted by the product use rights on a license) can exempt devices from consuming entitlements on a license to which they are (and remain) attached. For example, some license agreements may grant an exemption for devices used exclusively for testing.

Editable in Device role field in the General tab of the inventory device properties.

Inventory device status

Indicates the current state of a device. It can have any of the following values:

• Active—A device for which the inventory information is received from an inventory source.
• Archived—This device is in transition pending deletion, but is currently held because of its historical impacts on IBM PVU sub-capacity retrospective calculations.
• Awaiting Inventory—This device is a place-holder that has not yet appeared in imported inventory from any source.
• Ignored—The device that is not managed. An ignored device is not considered in license consumption calculations.

Tip: If an inventory device is linked to an asset record, and that asset is given a status of either Retired or Disposed, this Ignored value is automatically set for the linked inventory device.

Inventory device type

Specifies the type of the inventory device, which may be any of the following values:

• Computer—A computing device like a desktop, laptop, workstation, or a non- virtualized server.
• Mobile device—A mobile device like a tablet or smart phone.
• Product—Not a device type, but a pseudo-value used only in IBM VPC licenses to identify rows showing the licensed IBM product. This value may appear only if the Bundle consumption rules (in the license properties Use Rights & Rules tab, under License consumption rules) have the option Consume for each product on a device selected.
• Remote Device—The device is a remote device (not appearing in inventory) known to have accessed virtualized applications. This value is created automatically.
• VDI Template—The VDI template used to create the virtual desktop instance that was accessed from an inventory device (see Virtual Desktop Templates). This value is created automatically.
• Virtual Machine—A virtual machine running on a physical host machine. A physical host can run multiple virtual machines using virtualization technologies from VMWare, Oracle, Microsoft, and so on.
• VM Host—A physical virtual host running one or more virtual machines using any virtualization technology, such as VMWare.

Inventory source

If you have multiple overlapping inventory sources that report on the same device, it is possible for some inventory details to come from one source and other details from another source. This column identifies the most recent source of inventory that reported the majority of the hardware properties for this device.

Last inventory date

The date when inventory information was most recently collected by the Inventory source for the inventory device.

License name

The license from which this installation of IBM DB2 consumes entitlements.

License type

The kind of license, which determines what properties are available for the license, and how compliance is calculated for the license. For details of an individual license type, please see the appropriate entry in Terminology.

This license type applies to the license identified under License name.

Operating system

The operating system that this device reports in its inventory.

Recognized application

The application that matched the evidence uploaded from the Db2 db2licm command, often with an associated license type. This application is typically identified in the Application Recognition Library, although it may also be a locally- created application record where the attached evidence exactly matches the output of the db2licm command.

Tip:If the uploaded output of the db2licm command does not match the installer evidence of any application record, the import is not included in this report. Only applications with matched evidence are included here.

Example: DB2 10.5 Enterprise Server (Authorized User Single Install)

Recognized application/ suite

In this context, a "suite" means that there are a range of licensing options available for the same application. If such a suite has been recognized during the license reconciliation process, the suite name is shown in this column (and therefore appears different than the value in the Recognized application column). If there was no such suite of licenses recognized, this column shows the same application name as the previous column. The value from this column is available in management views, such as in inventory device properties; and it is in the linked properties of this application that installations on inventory devices can be traced. As always, in IT Asset Management the license is separate from (and can be attached to) the application record, and as such is not included in this Recognized application/suite name.

Example: DB2 10.5 Enterprise Server

Suite

A Boolean that displays:

• Yes when the value in Recognized application/suite is an application with a suite of available licensing options
• No when the value in that column is a single application.

This column is useful, for example, when filtering the listing to show only suites with multiple licensing options.

Version

The release number (or release identifier) of the IBM Db2 Database installed on the inventory device.
