Adding Roles
To perform tasks using FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications, a user needs appropriate permissions that are defined in FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications. Permissions are not assigned to users directly: Permissions are grouped into roles and FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications users are assigned one or more roles.
Roles are either system-defined or user-defined. System-defined roles cannot be edited by any users; users assigned a role with the “View and Manage Roles” permission can view, add, and edit user-defined roles in their own context.
To add a user-defined role:

From the Admin tab, under Roles, click Create Role. |

Enter the Name of the role, for example, User Management Administrator. A role is usually given the name of a type of user. |

If more than one data source is configured, select the Context in which this role can act. |
|
c.
|
Enter the Description of the role. |
|
d.
|
Leave the Status of the role Active. |
|
e.
|
Assign at least one permission to the role. |
|
4.
|
Verify in the Roles page that the role was added. |
