Installation Prerequisites

Before running any of the product installers, read through this list and ensure that you have completed all of the prerequisites.

1.

To learn about system requirements (for the application, and the supported databases), read the FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications 2022 R2 Release Notes.

a.

Ensure that your server hardware meets the requirements specified in the release notes.

b.

Ensure that your server operating system and database versions meet the requirements specified in the release notes.

2.

Review this installation guide, specifically the following sections:

•

Architecture and Recommended Deployment, in Introduction and Overview

•

Installation Task Checklist, later in this chapter

•

Installing FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications or Upgrading to FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications 2022 R2 (depending on the installation type).

•

Section of Configuring Database Servers for FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications that covers the database that you will use with FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin/Reporting

Save the license file that you received from Flexera. Note the location of the license file because you will need it during the installation.

4.

Download the platform-specific FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications Admin and Reporting installers from the Flexera Community:

a.

Go to https://community.flexera.com.

b.

Log in.

c.

Select your product (for example, FlexNet Manager).

d.

Under Product Resources, select Download Products and Licenses.

e.

Click the Let's Go button under FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications 2016 R2 (15.7) and Later.

f.

Under Your Downloads, select FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications.

g.

Click on the current product release: FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications 2020 R1.

If necessary, create operating-system user accounts. See the section, User Account Requirements (for Installing and Using FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications), for more information.

6.

Install and/or configure the supported database components, and ensure that you have the appropriate access permissions. See the section, Configuring Oracle, in Configuring Database Servers for FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications, for information.

Important:If you are using Oracle, you must create tablespaces for both the Admin and the Reporting databases prior to installing FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications.
