Distributing Product Licenses Automatically

To add an automatic license distribution:

From the Planner tab, under Contracts, click Contracts.

On the Contract Summary page, click the contract name for the contract to which you want to add license distributions to a contract pool.

In the bottom section of the page, click the contract pool to which you want to add a license distribution.

Click View for the license to which you want to add a distribution.

Click Add License Distribution to display the Add License Distribution page.

Specify the license distribution settings. Required settings are identified in the interface by a red asterisk (*).

Select Automatic.

Organizational Structure or Organization

Select the organizational structure or organization to which you want to distribute the licenses.

Org Levels

Expressed as an integer, the number of hierarchical levels within the organizational structure to which licenses will be distributed.

Utilization Start Date

Specified as mm/dd/yyyy, the start date of the product untilization period.

The product utilization period is the period used to analyze the relative usage of the product by the various organizational structure nodes.

Utilization End Date

Specified as mm/dd/yyyy, the end date of the product utilization period.

The product utilization period is the period used to analyze the relative usage of the product by the various organizational structure nodes.

Utilization Based on

Select the metric on which product license utilization should be based:

•

Time Used—The sum of the durations for all product license usage events (checkouts) for the product.

•

Peak Usage—Maximum of all peak license usages for the product.

•

Used Count—The sum of product license usage events (checkouts) for the product.

Round to Integer (# of Licenses)

Indicates whether the distribution suggestions should be rounded to the nearest integer.

Distribution Start Date

Specified as mm/dd/yyyy, the start date of the distribution.

This is the effective start date of the license distributions that result from the automatic license distribution, which is based on the other settings specified in this page.

Click Save.
