Configuring Your Web Browser

IT Asset Management (Cloud)
Efficient use of IT Asset Management may require adjusting your web browser settings.
Note: For practical use, IT Asset Management requires a minimum horizontal resolution of 1024 pixels in a supported web browser.
Check the following settings on your web browser used to access the central application server in the cloud:
  • Add the appropriate URLs to the list of trusted locations in your browser:
    • If you access the North American sites, register https://*.app.flexera.com
    • If you access the European sites, register https://*.app.flexera.eu
    • If you access the APAC sites, register https://*.app.flexera.au.
    Microsoft Edge Firefox Chrome Safari
Windows Start menu > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options, and select the Security tab. In the top panel, click Trusted sites. Click Sites, and Add each of the appropriate URLs as listed above. While in general Firefox does not use trusted locations in the same way as Microsoft Edge, you can configure it this way. In the address bar, type about:config. Locate (or Search for) network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris. Double-click the entry, and insert each of the appropriate URLs as listed above (as a comma separated list of the URLs). Controlled by the same system settings used by Microsoft Edge. Navigate to the website, and at the left of the URL address field, press (click and hold) the + button (Apple calls this the One Step button). From the Add to section of the context menu that appears, select Top Sites. You can navigate to your Top Sites page (click the icon near the left looking like an array of 12 tiny screens), and hover over the thumbnail for the webpage. Ensure that the pin icon that appears is blue (if not, click it) to lock this as one of your top sites. To manage certificates, the technical user can use Keychain Access.
  • When Microsoft Edge is used on a server-based operating system (for example, if your inventory beacon has a server operating system), the IE enhanced security provisions must be turned off on that server.
    Microsoft Edge Firefox Chrome Safari
On the server, open Administrative Tools > Server Manager. Ensure that the Server Manager (top) node is selected, and in the Security Information group, click the Configure IE ESC link. In the Microsoft Edge Enhanced Security Configuration dialog, ensure that the Off radio button is selected for both Administrators and Users. Not applicable. Not applicable. Not applicable.
  • JavaScript must be enabled.
    Microsoft Edge Firefox Chrome Safari
Enabled by default when the site is included in Trusted sites. To validate, Windows Start menu > Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options, and select the Security tab. In the top panel, click Trusted sites. Click Custom level.... In Security Settings - Trusted Sites Zone dialog, scroll down to the Scripting section and check that under Active scripting, the Enable radio button is selected. Open the Options dialog (if need be, click the Firefox button at the top of the window to expose the menu, then Tools > Options), and select the Content tab. Select the Enable JavaScript check box.

Chrome menu > Settings > +Show advanced settings > Content settings (under "Privacy"). In the dialog, under "JavaScript", either select Allow all sites to run JavaScript (recommended), or where this is not permitted by your enterprise, click Manage exceptions... to allow JavaScript from each of https://*.app.flexera.com (for the US site) or https://*.app.flexera.eu (for the European site) or https://*app.flexera.au (for the APAC site).

Safari > Preferences..., select the Security tab, and set the Enable JavaScript check box.
  • Compatibility mode must be disabled for the URL https://*.app.flexera.com. (This seldom requires change if Microsoft Edge is already accessing the Internet.) For more information about compatibility mode, see Microsoft Internet Explorer Compatibility Mode.
    Microsoft Edge Firefox Chrome Safari

Open Microsoft Edge, press Alt + F to display the Edge menu, then select Settings. Select Default browser. Under the Internet Explorer compatibility, make sure the option Allow sites to be reloaded in Internet Explorer mode is set to Don't allow.
