Peak Container Consumption
IT Asset Management
(Cloud)
The Peak container consumption row is visible only when its parent, the Peak consumption panel, is displayed. If this license is not tracking license consumption for software installed in containers, the row is displayed with a value of zero.
For software (and
especially Cloud Paks) running in containers, IBM requires that the
license consumption is monitored by the IBM License
Service. Records for
each cluster are retrieved from the RESTful API of the IBM License Service by either the
Flexera Kubernetes Inventory Agent or the Lightweight Kubernetes Inventory Agent. IT Asset Management
then:
- Filters the records to select only those for the products attached to this license
- Sums the daily consumption figures across the reporting period
- Selects the largest of these daily sums as the Peak container consumption value across all container clusters for all products linked to this license.
The integration of these results here in the Compliance tab gives
you a "single pane of glass" to monitor consumption from the affected
license.
Tip: This figure does not include consumption from products running in
containers licensed under traditional sub-capacity licensing, or reported from the
FlexNet Inventory Agent embedded in a container. It is the peak consumption
calculated from data supplied by the IBM License
Service.
