User Status

IT Asset Management (Cloud)
The user's operational status in your enterprise, which may have been set to one of:
  • Active
  • Inactive
  • Retired
  • On leave
  • Pending.
Tip: Users with status set to either Inactive or Retired are treated as unknown users in license consumption calculations. Software installations on any devices linked to an unknown user fall back to each consuming a single license entitlement, to satisfy audit requirements. For certain user-based licenses, this means that multiple devices with an unknown (Inactive or Retired) user consume more than they did when linked together by a single Active user.
Note: All license types that display this User status column, except SAP Named User, behave as described above: every device for which the user is unknown, or for which the user has a status of Inactive or Retired, must consume one entitlement per installation at each license reconciliation. For SAP Named User licenses, consumption (of one entitlement for the user) is determined in FlexNet Manager for SAP Applications, and simply imported into IT Asset Management for display along with consumption of all other license types. For this reason, consumption of SAP Named User licenses does not change if you set the user status within IT Asset Management to either Retired or Inactive.
Remember: If you make a change to a user's status (on the General tab of the user properties), and refresh this Consumption tab, you may see the listing change; but the update of total consumption figures requires another license reconciliation.

For more information about the impact of status values of Inactive or Retired, refer back to Consumption Tab.

The column is only available for certain user-based licenses, such as IBM Authorized User, IBM Concurrent User, IBM Floating User, IBM UVU, Microsoft SCCM Client User, Named User, or User licenses; and (with slightly different behavior) SAP Named User.

Not available for the following license types:
  • All device-based licenses
  • Concurrent User licenses, mainly used for imports from FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications
  • Oracle licenses, including Oracle Application User, Oracle Legacy, Oracle Named User Plus, with their specialized concept of "Oracle users"
  • SaaS User licenses, with a special model of the "accessing user" rather than the user linked to a particular inventory device.
