Review the Lifecycle of a Workflow Request

Workflow Manager 6.5

Once Workflow Manager has been initialized, it is ready for use to create and perform workflow requests. The following is a typical scenario:

Typical Lifecycle of Request

Task

Description

1

Consumer Creates Request

A consumer creates a new request, based upon a project created for his company. Workflow Manager automatically sends an email to the workflow administrator. See Submitting a Workflow Request from the Home Page (Consumers).

2

Administrator Reviews Request

The workflow administrator reviews the application-related data that was submitted by the consumer.

If the submitted data is satisfactory, the administrator advances the workflow and assigns people to act in the various roles that have been defined. See Updating a Workflow Request and Assigning People to Workflow Requests.
If the submitted data is not satisfactory or incomplete, the administrator clicks Reject Data to unlock the submitted data for editing. Workflow Manager automatically sends an email to the consumer, who can then modify and resubmit the data.

3

Administrator Perform Tasks

Once the request is underway, the assigned administrators perform the steps defined by the workflow and advance or roll back the workflow as appropriate.

While this is going on, the consumer can use Workflow Manager to check the workflow’s status. Consumers and administrators can communicate by adding or responding to items on the Issues list. For more information, see the following topics:
