Customize Deduplication Rules via Private Catalog Settings

Important:This feature is currently supported only for customers who are using SQL Server as their DBMS for Data Platform.

Expanding on the customized deduplication functionality introduced in the previous release (see 5.5.75 Release (June 2024)), this release adds two enhancements to the ability to customize deduplication rules via Technopedia/Private Catalog settings. The first enhancement allows you to set deduplication override rules in an IT asset’s Technopedia Object attributes. The second enhancement makes it possible to report on multiple unique installs of a particular software product.

• The COEXIST_VERSION and COEXIST_EDITION override flags already available in the Administrative Console are now available for more targeted rule customization in the User Console. You can customize deduplication settings in the User Console by editing the an IT asset’s Technopedia Object attributes/settings.
• A new DEDUPE_ADVANCED override flag considers the installation directory of the software product to allow for multiple unique installs of the same software product on a single device. To support this functionality, a configuration property, RegexList, has been added in Norm.Configuration.config; it allows you to set a regular expression to govern which directories are permitted for DEDUPE_ADVANCED consideration.)

We have added support in the Jamf Pro inventory extractor for API bearer token authentication and client credentials. This extractor replaces the previous API extractor for Jamf. Customers who currently use this extractor will be automatically upgraded to the new Jamf Pro extractor.

maindir value (and other fields) for software when generating output XSF file for <application> nodes were sometimes incorrect when there are multiple installs of the same product. This has been resolved.

These changes to how we handle usage information supersede prior changes and preserve the original record when generating the output file. All the original, non-normalized data like usage fields and installation directory should now match the original XML file.
