Adding Insights
Note:
IT Visibility is being upgraded with the introduction of Technology Intelligence Platform beginning in September 2024. Flexera will contact you directly regarding the timeframe of your upgrade. With Technology Intelligence Platform, out-of-the-box IT Visibility dashboards are being replaced with new, enhanced IT Visibility Technology Intelligence Platform reports. For more information, see IT Visibility With Technology Intelligence Platform Reports.
Insights are defined sets of facts, attributes, and filters that visualize your data in Data Explorer. You can use insights to build Dashboards.
To add insights to the dashboard:
1.
Go to the Add Dashboard page (IT Visibility > Dashboard > New Dashboard). |
2.
To add an already existing insight to the dashboard, drag the insight from the Saved Insights section to the dashboard area. |
Tip:You can add insights created by you or shared with you. For details about insights, see Creating Insights to Visualize Your Data. We recommend that you keep the total number of KPIs and insights on a single dashboard below 16 to avoid delays in computation.
3.
To create a new insight and add it to the dashboard, perform the following steps: |
a.
Drag the Insight item from the New Item section to the dashboard area. |
b.
Build your insight in Data Explorer and click Save. The Name your insight dialog box opens. |
c.
Enter a name for the insight that you created, and then click Save to save the insight. |
Note:For details about insight configuration, see Creating Insights to Visualize Your Data.
4.
To display the insight settings, click the insight on a dashboard or click the three dots icon, and click Configuration. In the Configuration section, you can: |
•
Hide the name of the insight on the dashboard by selecting the Hide title checkbox. |
•
Change the description by selecting the description from the dropdown list. By default, the description displays as Inherit. If you select the Custom option, you can add a custom text. Selecting None does not display the description. |
Note:The description displays when you click the question mark next to the insight name.
•
Filter the insight by different attributes. Select any option in the Filter by section. |
5.
To add interactions to your dashboard, click the insight on a dashboard or click the three dots icon, and click Interactions. In the Interactions section, you can: |
•
Zoom the insight to display a detailed view by clicking the Zoomable insight checkbox. For more information, see Zoomable Insights. |
•
Create interactive dashboards by adding drills to your insights. For more information on adding drills, see Drilling in Dashboards. |
6.
To add a title and description to a section of the dashboard, in the Add Title here and Add Description here fields, enter the title and description, respectively. |
Note:The maximum length of the title is 50 characters; the maximum length of the description is 300 characters.
8.
To add a name for the dashboard, in the Untitled field, type the folder name and dashboard name using the following syntax: <folder-name>/<dashboard-name>. |
Note: Consider the following:
•
IT Visibility enables you to group your dashboards into folders. When saving a newly created dashboard, you must create or designate a folder for it when you name the dashboard. |
•
All dashboards must be saved in a folder. If you attempt to create a dashboard without a folder name, it will be stored in the Uncategorized folder. |
