Technopedia Dashboards

Technopedia dashboards contain every single catalog item (software and hardware). See the following sections for lists of available Technopedia dashboards and for a short discussion about the differences between what is shown on the Technopedia dashboards versus the way Technopedia data appears in IT Visibility.

In Flexera One, Technopedia includes the following dashboards.

Technopedia Dashboards

Dashboard

Description

Hardware

Shows a summary of all the hardware catalog items in the Technopedia catalog. The Hardware dashboard data is grouped into tables for Hardware Product and Hardware Model and, within these tables, you can drill down to get product and model details shown in Product List and Model detail views.

The Hardware Product and Hardware Model data in the Hardware dashboard can be filtered by Manufacturer, Category Group, Category, Subcategory, Product Name, and Model Name.

Software

Shows a summary of all the software catalog items in the Technopedia catalog. The Software dashboard data is grouped into tables for Software Product and Software Release and, within these tables, you can drill down to get product and release details shown in Product List and Release drilldown views.

The Software Product and Software Release data in the Software dashboard can be filtered by Manufacturer, Category Group, Category, Subcategory, Product Name, Component, Market Version, Version, and Edition.

Note:You can manage software releases with missing lifecycle dates in the Software dashboard. For additional information, see Calculated Lifecycle Data.

Vulnerability

Shows a summary of all the vulnerability catalog items in the Technopedia catalog. The Vulnerability dashboard data is grouped into tables for Vulnerability, CPE, and CVE and, within these tables, you can drill down to get vulnerability, CPE, and CVE details shown in Vulnerability Title, CPE Title, and CVE drilldown views.

The Vulnerability, CPE, and CVE data in the Vulnerability dashboard can be filtered by Vulnerability Title, SAID, Criticality Label, CPE Title, CPE URI, CPE Product, CVE, and CVE Score.

Technopedia Dashboard Data versus Technopedia Data in IT Visibility

Like the data shown in IT Visibility, Technopedia dashboards leverage the data available in the Technopedia catalog. Unlike IT Visibility, which shows only the Technopedia data for IT assets in your inventory, Technopedia dashboards includes all the records in the Technopedia catalog.

Calculated Lifecycle Data

Technopedia provides enrichment data such as lifecycle dates—General Availability (GA), End of Life (EOL), and Obsolete dates (the last date on which any support is provided by the vendor, captured the way it was published by the vendor)—in addition to software releases. Flexera’s Content Team curates these dates from various sources (direct from vendors' websites or other reliable sources). However, not every vendor provides this information publicly, leaving Technopedia customers facing the challenge of having to manage releases with missing lifecycle dates.

Calculated Lifecycle supplements the curated, research-based dates by introducing dynamic calculations on dates for a particular release based on existing dates from other related releases (such as releases under the same product, family, suite, vendor, category, and so on). These calculations provide additional data points to customers who need to have explicit dates in their EOL management use-cases, while at the same time still maintain full transparency that they are calculated dates.

With the calculated lifecycle data, you can better understand when the software might be at risk, even if not formally communicated by the vendor so that you can choose to take actions to mitigate vulnerabilities and support costs.

You can manage software releases with missing lifecycle dates in the Technopedia Software dashboard. The following calculated lifecycle data fields appear in the Software dashboard when you drill down to get the release details under the Lifecycle Details section.

Calculated date fields—These fields contain calculated values based on an algorithm that picks the best scenario (“case”) to calculate the missing dates. Each date field—General Availability, End of Life, Obsolete—has its own calculated date field.

Important:These dates are calculated, and not actual dates as published by the vendor.

Calculated “case” fields—These fields provide information on how the dates were calculated—whether they were calculated based on dates from other releases under the same product, calculated based on dates from other releases within the same suite, and so on.
