Copying Report Configurations

FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications provides the capability to copy an existing report configuration. This enables you to easily create a report that has the same report specifications with a few exceptions (for example, a different date range, vendor daemon, or host server).

To copy an existing report configuration:

From the Reporting tab, under Classic Reporting, click Report Configurations. This displays the Report Configurations page.

Click the Copy button next to the report whose configuration you want to copy.

When you copy a report configuration, FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications clones the existing report configuration and displays the first page of the report wizard. As you go through the report configuration wizard, you can make changes specific to this version of the copied report configuration, creating a new report based on an existing report.

All report data are copied except for the Configuration Name and the report title.

The new configuration name will be “Original Report Configuration Name - Copy n,” where n is the copy number. For example, if you created two copies of the High Water Mark report, the second copy would be named “High Water Mark Sample - Copy 2.”

The new report title will be “main original report title + appendix for new report configuration name.” For example, if the existing report title is “Sample HWM - Copy” and the new report configuration name is “HWM - Copy 4,” the new report title is “Sample HWM - Copy 4.” The purpose is to use the same appendix as the report configuration.

When you copy a report configuration, FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications copies the values in the Report Output Directory and Output Directory Options settings (available on the Output Options page of the report wizard). If a report output directory is specified in the original report configuration, FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications displays a warning message on the first page of the report wizard asking you to change the report output directory or the output directory options, so your copied report does not overwrite existing report output.

You can save your copied report configuration at any time by clicking the Finish button, available on most of the report wizard pages.

To cancel the copied report configuration, click the Cancel button. FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications exits the report wizard and returns to the Report Configurations page; the cloned report is not created.
