Managing Third-Party License Servers
Note:To use the third-party license server functionality, your enterprise must engage the assistance of Flexera Software’s Professional Services team.
You can use FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications to manage license servers for licensing systems other than FlexNet Publisher and IBM LUM.
Functionality for managing third-party license servers is available under the Servers tab (under the Third-Party License Servers heading); however, these navigation links are hidden by default. To display the Third-Party License Servers Summary and the Third-Party Licensing Templates links, you must select the Enable support for third-party license servers option on the System Configuration | Manager page.
Workflow for Adding Third-Party License Servers
The process for adding third-party license servers to FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications includes the following tasks:
| 1. | Deploy FlexNet Agents to the machines where the third-party license servers reside. |
| 2. | Add those FlexNet Agents to FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications. |
| 3. | Create a report log definition to define the report log format used by the licensing system. |
| 4. | Create a licensing template to link to the report log definition and to define the command syntax and options that the FlexNet Agent will execute for the licensing system. If a particular license server uses different command definitions, you can customize those definitions on a per–license server basis. |
| 5. | Add the third-party license server to FlexNet Manager for Engineering Applications. |
